Ok, the newest build is out, go to the beta test page to get the new build. In this build I’ve implemented progressive loading of images in the movie lists (all of them). This means that the table cell will render without the image if the image hasn’t loaded yet, and when the image is available it will be displayed. This allows for much smoother scrolling in the movie lists.

Also, we have added release date section headers to the Movies page. This way to can easily understand what the release date for the movie is, and it provides a much more organized view of the data which is sorted by release date.

Enjoy,

Hassan

Hi Hassan,

I sent this in an email as well with crash logs attached:

I installed the 2/6/09 build this morning and took it for a test run.  BTW, the previous build was slightly improved for me, but still crashed quite often.
This build is much better.  I can see the movie list, although very few have images for a long time, it is still usable, it scrolls quite quickly and I can find the movie I want to look at.  Once I find a movie, I can tap it and see the details, including the image now, and that works great.
So I think the movie list and details view are working well for me now.  Congrats!

Once I try to find a RedBox location, I run into trouble.  I've gone from the movie, tapped “Find” and gone to the map.  From there, it spins until it crashes.  Once it actually gave me an error that the RedBox service was unavailable; only available in the US.  So, although the map it shows me and has the spinner on top of, is centered on my location in Golden, it apparently is having trouble finding my location.

The other way to get there, by tapping “Locations”, is also having the same problem, spinning on the map, and crashing.

Hassan – This build is infinitely better, but once again I am using wifi almost exclusively.  I also noticed that the build number on the loading screen did not get changed in 2/6/9.

Overall, I think the glue is working out, and some of the other enhancements would be a good addition.  As-is, though, it a really good starting point.  You have a lot more functionality than I expected.

One thing – why under “movies” does it still have the “1″ new indicator?  That is driving me nuts.

OK – the *new* finally went away.  I finally rented a movie using my iPhone and it worked pretty good.  THe exception is that the reservation never went away; the movies tab simply persisted my reservation.  Also – the option to reserve more than one movie should exist.  I ended up renting another while at the McD's for the kids.

This brings me to part two – the promo codes – I am guessing that the redbox web servide does not support the use of promo codes?  And – is there a way to use a promo code a redbox machine for a movie you've already reserved?

Part three – there I was in the McD's thinking I should get another movie, so I thought I should get a promo code from my iPhone.  When I tried to open the app, it just popped on the loading screen.  I tried this 3-4 times, trying on both, 3g and wifi.  I bounced the phone and life was good after that.  This all happened just after 3pm.
